Women allegedly arrested.
Reports are coming a women has been arrested after a man suffered serious head injuries after an attack on him with a hammer and glass bottle.
The incident happened at approx 8pm on footpath Brereton Avenue, between Coombes Street and Ward Street. It is believed the woman was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
There was a large police presence in the area following the incident, with detectives and officers going door to door making inquiries.
A large bloodstain was spotted on the pavement in between the cordon. Scenes of crime officers were also at the scene gathering evidence.
A man was later taken by ambulance to hospital with what are believed to be serious head injuries.
Shortly after the cordon was put in place, a woman was arrested close to the scene.
