MP calls for female Fireman Sam

Louth and Horncastle MP Victoria Atkins, who is also the Women’s Minister, says she’d like to see a “revised version” of TV character Fireman Sam to highlight women can do the job of a firefighter just as well as men.

Ms Atkins made the comments during a Women and Equality Question session in the House of Commons earlier.

Fire service to get more women involved

She also promised the government would be working with women in the fire service to get more women involved in the future.

Sam, is the leading character in a popular children’s TV show and has been fighting fires in the fictional town of Pontypandy for over 30 years.

Broadcast in 155 countries

The programme is broadcast in 155 countries across the world and in 36 languages.

It is said to be a favourite of Prince George.

      REALLY!!!!!!!!’
Who cares, there are just some Jobs that men are more physically suited for. We need woman in the service for sure to balance things. BUT, Fireman SAM 😂😂😂
It just seems like another attention seeking comment to get noticed.
Our society is getting so politically correct.
Surely there are more pressing issues than Fireman SAM. Being a man!!!!
