Family appeal for mourners to attend funeral of a lovely old soldier.

There has been an appeal put out by the family of a former Para Bernard Duffell.They have asked that any ex servicemen and women attend his military funeral at Grimsby crematorium.

First Serviceman to be recruited to Army Air Corps.

Bernard Duffell 94 was one of the first servicemen to be recruited to the Army Air Corps during the Second World War.He joined the parachute regiment as part of the newly created Army Air Corps.

He fought in Normandy the Ardennes offensive and Germany.

Bernard will receive military honour at his funeral at Grimsby crematorium at 2.20pm on Monday.The cortège will be led by Grimsby and Cleethorpes Parachute Association.The British Legion will provide a guard of honour by the side of the Parachute Association.The family request that anyone who would like to show their respect to a lovely old soldier is welcome to attend.

      Can I just say that the family did not “appeal” for mourners as stated in the press it was just an announcement for anyone wishing to attend that they would be welcome ! also some of the comments and quotes printed were deviated from the original story and not shown to the family before going to press so therefore were printed without our consent.
