Do do you think children’s homework is a waste of time?

Kirstie Allsop is believed to have said that homework set by schools is a waste of time if it isn’t reading.

She believes children should be encouraged to read instead of having to do homework.

Statistics from the Literacy Trust shows a decline in children reading for pleasure. It is down from 59% of 8-18-year-olds in 2016 to 53% in 2019.

Homework takes time away from reading.

She is of the opinion that homework takes time away from reading and that reading is everything.

Homework causes unhappiness and conflict in many families.
