Andrew Dixon 35 was accused of attempting to murder his wife in Ward Street on November 18th. He faces time at Rampton high-security hospital after attacking his wife with an iron bar leaving her brain damaged.
A jury at Sheffield Crown Court decided that he caused his wife’s injuries. He was found unfit to plea because of a mental disorder. It is thought that he probably used an iron bar to hit his 37year old wife at least three times on her face and head during an argument.
His wife had serious head injuries, multiple fractures, and bruising and bleeding to her brain. She has been left with seriously impaired speech as well as serious physical and emotional problems.
His sentence was adjourned for an updated report for a possible hospital order. No place at a hospital was available for him but it is believed inquiries are being made for a place at Rampton high-Security hospital.
