A 34-year-old man who was subject to a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) that prevented him from entering certain parts of Grimsby and begging aggressively has had it extended for another two years.
Anton Barnes of no fixed abode was made the subject of a CBO in 2017 that prevented him from:
- Engaging in conduct which causes or is likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress to others, or in behaviour which is likely to be threatening, abusive or insulting to others, or inciting or encouraging others to do so in North East Lincolnshire.
- Entering an area of Grimsby Town Centre (in streets around Freshney Place and Market Hall)
- Begging in any public place in North East Lincolnshire.
This has now been extended to March 2021 and includes further prohibitions to the order which includes an additional exclusion zone including Freeman Street and surrounding streets including Asda (see map below).
If Anton Barnes is seen within these areas he could be arrested.
PC Keren Johnson, Grimsby East Community Beat manager, said: “This extension and variation to Anton Barne’s CBO will prevent him from begging aggressively in Grimsby town centre for another two years, and from behaving in the same way in other parts of the town.
“We have made this move following further information we received about Anton Barnes who was first subject to a CBO in 2017.
“Being able to get a two-year extension will hopefully stop him from entering areas of Grimsby and acting in the way he has. It’s just one of the moves we can take to reduce antisocial behaviour in North East Lincolnshire.”
