International Social Media giant filming advert with Grimsby people

Social media giant, LinkedIn and award winning filmmakers Archer’s Mark, are creating a national advertising campaign based entirely in Grimsby. The casting team is currently in town and are looking for people to take part. Filming with locals will be for three short films about people who want to make a change in their work or career. These films will be very positive about Grimsby and it’s enterprising and hard-working community. Archer’s Mark are the production company making the advert, and for finding people to be involved, and they want you to get in touch!

Archers Mark and LinkedIn were determined to find somewhere where they knew there was the possibility of access to re-training, new employment and/or expanding businesses, as it is important that those filmed have a chance to achieve their aims. However, Grimsby is also a place where people may have been looking for these opportunities for some time and may not yet have used LinkedIn.

● Grimsby has recently had over 8,800 new jobs and nearly 10,000 new homes promised thanks to a new Town Deal worth £67 million, which was announced by the government in July 2018. or-greater-grimsby

● With Ørsted in town, building the UK’s largest operations base for offshore wind at Grimsby’s Royal Dock, there is now the provision of 350 jobs for local people.

They’re looking for people who could get something out of connecting to LinkedIn. If you’re someone who wants to find employment, get off of a 0-hours contract, looking to do some courses or re-train or are perhaps taking on, expanding or wanting to start a new business then this could be for you.
They want to find people who are motivated, whether it’s for themselves or their families, but have struggled so far for whatever reason. This is for people who want the best for their lives and for whom a change would really mean something.

Some examples of people they are looking for are:

● A hardworking person in the fishing industry who wants to retrain in renewables or perhaps someone who wants to enter the fishing industry as there is potential for a stronger industry.

● An ambitious business owner. This could be someone who recently took on a family business and is excited to make it their own or someone who runs a successful local business but want to take it to the next step.

● Someone who is working in a family business but wants to retrain and get out.

● A single Mum or Dad on a 0-hours contract who wants to find a new and fulfilling job that is more suitable for their lives . Perhaps a single Mum who wants to do some care work courses but can’t make it work financially.

● Someone who is sick of being unemployed. They feel let down by Universal Credit and the jobcentre, and feel that they are at the end of their tether using the same old routes. They’re used to working hard and want to feel proud.

They will be paying people for their time. However, they also hope that people will really enjoy being involved in the filmmaking process, and get a lot out of it. The hope is that people will achieve their aims, or at least be on the way to it by the end of filming. However, it will be filmed observationally and the filming team can’t have any major influence on the outcome.

They want to start filming with people from mid-end Apri for approx 4 or 5 non-consecutive days.

To put yourself forward, send an email to with a bit about yourself, what your plans are and why you may have struggled to achieve those dreams so far. They need to hear from you by 12th April.
