Singing with workmates reduces stress.

According to psychologists, the seven dwarfs had the right idea when they sang heigh ho on the way to work.

Research suggests that singing with workmates reduces stress and also makes employees feel more supported.

According to Joanna Foster from the University of Leicester previous research found that singing in a group improves your physical and mental health. But this study was looking to see if singing in a workplace choir could reduce workplace stress, and also enhance feelings of support.

The study looked at if singing with colleagues in a workplace choir can reduce stress and enhance feelings of social isolation.

There was a 96% reduction of work-related stress and an 86% reduction in social isolation feelings.

Workplaces should consider encouraging their staff to regularly take part in singing groups, to improve their well being, engagement and potentially job performance.
