Grimsby Intermediate Snooker League
It comes down to the last game of the season in the GY Cars sponsored Grimsby Intermediate Snooker League, with two Ray Edmonds teams vying for the title, top of the league GY Cars are playing host to third placed and last years champions The Gas Man, whilst second by just three points Ray Edmonds B go to lowly Clee Cons A, meanwhile at the other end level pegging between Carr Lane A and Snug Fit Grimsby, who drew against each other this week, Alan Young and Brian Ryley sharing with Craig Sidney and Jamie Barrett (25, 24), Mick Bird and Derek Crosby took the next two for the home side, and Rick Thornton with Rob Wraith (20, 39) the last two for the visitors hence the draw. Carr Lane, travel to Clee Home Guard who are placed just above them and managed a 3-3 draw at third placed The Gas Man, each pair winning and losing a frame, Paul Jackson and Matty Lawton (51) sharing 1-1 with Craig Taylor and Martin Cave, Kev North and Scott Long (25) sharing with Keith Southwell (42) and Rick Pacey, Scott Templeman (38) and Anthony Jagger with Nick Mason and Mark Stevens. Snug Fit entertain Webbonet who lye one above the Guards, the only other match is between fourth placed Ray Edmonds D entertaining Peter Hogarth & Sons who lie sixth after losing 5-1 to leaders GY Cars, John Lough and Paul Simpson (20) opening the scoring for them, sharing the first board 1-1 with Danny Reynolds and Paul Clark (67), Sam Ward (25, 40, 29) and Chris Fuller, took the next two followed by team mates Alan Robertson and Mick Ponsonby also getting two giving them the win.
Presentation evening is on Friday 7th June at McMenemys, more details to follow.
It looks like Westlands Heating have won the B League even though they lost at home to Carr Lane B, who’s Richard and John Smith set the ball rolling sharing 1-1 with Adam Board and Richard Bell, the visitors took the next two thanks to Lee MacFarlane (21) and Ben Leggett (22), Chris Yull and Rick Stanard pulled one back for the home side drawing 1-1 with Glenn and Jon Leggett, Carr Lane going away with a 4-2 win.
Westlands D moved off bottom spot with a 4-2 win at Clee Home Guard Graduates, Nigel Mumby (22) and Steve Piggott opening the scoring sharing 1-1 with Gary White and Craig Allerston, Tom Braithwaite and George Clark put the visitors back in front only to share 1-1 with Terry Robinson and Dave Richardson and with John Ford and John Turner winning 2-0 for the Wessies they went away with the win.
Ray Edmonds S got a 5-1 home win against Hainton Renegades, as did Clee Cons C against West End C.
