Officers have been granted a further 36 hours to question a man arrested in connection with an alleged rape in Grimsby.

The 31-year-old was arrested 22nd April in connection with the incident on Freeman Street on Sunday 14 April.

Humberside Police were able to secure an extension because of the complex nature of their enquiries which are continuing.

Detective Chief Inspector Stu Miller said:

I’d like to thank the public for their help and for contacting us with information in relation to our investigation. We issued an appeal, a name was put forward to us, and as a direct result of that we made an arrest.
