Almost 40-years behind bars for Grimsby burglars

Almost 40-years behind bars for Grimsby burglars

Three men who viciously attacked a 65-year-old man in his own home and left him injured on the floor of his back room have today been jailed for almost 40 years.

Borge Bradwell, 40, of Watford Avenue, Grimsby, and Daniel Charnock, 38, of Corporation Road, Grimsby, pleaded guilty to aggravated burglary and were each given a 16-and-a-half year sentence in prison.

A third man, Gavin Dyball, 35, of Churchill Way, Grimsby, was found guilty of burglary following a four day trial. He was sentenced to five-years and ten months for his involvement.

The attack happened on Wednesday 4 July 2018 at a house on Carr Lane, Cleethorpes.

The victim was home alone when Bradwell and Charnock walked into his house and demanded money from him.

When he didn’t hand any over, the pair hit him with a baseball bat and after he fell to the floor they continued to kick him causing serious abdominal injuries.

The men stole over £10 000, that the victim had collected as part of a workplace lottery that he was organising at the time, before leaving him lying injured on the floor.

Dyball was with the pair before they broke into the house and was seen standing as a lookout on the street whilst the attack was happening.

Detective Inspector Kerry Bull said:

These men showed no remorse or care for the victim, who they viciously attacked and stole from. Thankfully he has recovered from the physical injuries, but the attack he endured in his own home was absolutely horrific and I want to praise him for his bravery throughout the investigative process.  I am pleased these three are now off the streets and behind bars for the offences they committed, and I hope the result offers the victim some form of closure knowing they are now in prison and allowing him to hopefully move forward.
