Violent Crime in Grimsby and Cleethorpes is at a record high.

A new record high of violent crime in Grimsby and Cleethorpes has been recorded by Humberside Police. There were 90 acts of violence recorded each day.

In 2018 There was a total of 32,747 cases of violence against the person recorded by Humberside Police. Which was the highest number since records began in 2017.

Serious crimes which involved knives or other sharp objects was also at its highest level for any single year since 2011. Offences of violent crime against the person were up by a third in 2018 compared to 2017 which has more than doubled since 2007.

Violence is more likely to be experienced by people in Grimsby and Cleethorpes than the national average. There were 98,311 crimes recorded in Humberside in 2018 which is up from 15 percent from 2017.

This is higher than the national average and works out at 106 crimes per 1,000 people living in the area. The national average across England and Wales as a whole is 88 crimes per 1,000 people.

The figures are based on newly published crime figures recorded for police forces across the country.
