New local Labour leader

The new local Labour leader Is Matt Patrick.

He is taking over from interim Leader Dave Watson after the surprise resignation of Ray Oxby.

Heneage Councillor, Patrick, has been selected as new leader of the local Labour Party.

Matthew Patrick retained his seat with a 800 votes. Compared to the 1,730 he achieved 4 years ago.

Quoted on the campaign trail when asked what he stands for.

My Focus is as always to put people before politics, support community groups and individual residents, both day to day and growing our community as a great place to live. Residents tell want to an end the three box recycling system, as well as fight back against fly tipping, I am and will continue to make this happen.

Labour has the best tradition of putting residents first, we have already made an overstretched council budget go further in answer to Tory cuts, by creating jobs and improving services, important to put party politics aside and get on with the job that people want.

More analysis to follow.
