North East Lincolnshire Council, working in partnership with ENGIE, is encouraging local businesses and employees to consider more sustainable travel methods and choose greener methods of travel.
Business Travel Planning is a project running across the borough providing businesses with a full travel planning service, including an assessment of how employees travel to and from work, promotion of sustainable transport available and support to reduce single occupancy car journeys.
Businesses who work with us to put in place a travel plan will be eligible to apply for funding of up to £5,000 to implement travel initiatives such as installation of electric vehicle charging points, new and improved cycle parking facilities or purchase of electric bikes.
Local businesses with travel plans in place are also eligible to offer SmartCommute to their employees, delivered in partnership with ENGIE and Stagecoach East Midlands. The discounted monthly bus ticket is a great employee benefit offering staff a 41 per cent discount on their bus travel through a hassle free monthly direct debit.
Councillor Stewart Swinburn, portfolio holder for transport, said:
Business Travel Planning is a great way for local businesses to engage with the Council and work with us to promote greener, more sustainable methods of transport to their staff and improve their own carbon footprint. Local businesses working with the Transport Team may also be eligible to offer staff discounted monthly bus travel through the SmartCommute ticket in partnership with Stagecoach East Midlands. There really is no better time to jump on board the road to greener, more sustainable travel.
