Cleethorpes now has its very own rum after a collaboration between two Lincolnshire businesses.
Waddingham based, Tip-Tap-Top have created the new tipple exclusively for message in a bottle – the popular bottle shop and weekend bar on Cambridge Street, Cleethorpes.
The small batch, dark rum is available in striking skull shaped bottles which are individually sealed by hand. It is infused with banana, salted caramel, molasses and a hint of citrusy orange. There are three different sizes with prices starting at just £15.
Charles Lumley (pictured), owner of message in a bottle, is delighted with the finished product.
We are really excited about the launch of Cleethorpes Rum. We started out back in 2015 just selling local ales and craft beer. These have gone from strength to strength and it’s been great to see the local beer scene flourish. We’ve been championing local gins for a long time and this rum is a great addition to our range of local Lincolnshire spirits. The skull bottles look amazing and everyone who has tasted it has been raving about it. It reminds me of when we first launched Cleethorpes Pale Ale together with Axholme Brewing Company – there is a real buzz for high quality local products, and this is another one we are proud to have helped create. With me working with the Mariners Trust on their beer festival on Saturday, we decided to wait till Sunday to finally open the first bottle. We did some tasters on the bar and put some stuff on our social media. Since then the response has been incredible!
Ron Edgar from Tip-Tap-Top has enjoyed working on the collaboration.
We are both independent Lincolnshire businesses and have worked with one another for a number of years now. This rum has been quite a long time in the making as we wanted to get it just right. Nathan Prail from Gemstone Creative has done a fine job of getting the Cleethorpes inspired labels just how we wanted, and I am really pleased with the flavour profile.
Cleethorpes Rum is available exclusively at message in a bottle. The bottles can be bought from the shop and it will also be served on the bar which operates every Saturday and Sunday.
