On Saturday Cleethorpes travel to meet Elsecar in the 4 Probate & Wills ECB Yorkshire South Premier League.
This will be a first ever visit by Cleethorpes to a club who were only promoted to the ECB league at the end of last season.
After making a number of new signings following their promotion, Elsecar have made an exceptional start to life at the higher level. Should they defeat Cleethorpes on Saturday they will leapfrog the
Meggies and move into 4th place in the league table.
Much of their success this season has been due to performance of overseas player Saeed Anwar. The Pakistan player has not only scored over 400 runs (with one century and three 50’s) but heads the clubs bowling list, having claimed 21 wickets.
Other new signings include Matt Higgins, who has moved from Notts Premier League side Welbeck, and former Doncaster Town all-rounder Charlie Kay. Cleethorpes will also have to be wary of former Northants and Yorkshire player Lesroy Weekes who, even at 47 years of age, is capable of making batsmen hop around.
James Osmond, the Cleethorpes Captain, makes one change from last week’s XI. Harry Costello, who was unavailable for the game against Sheffield Collegiate, returns to the starting line up at the expense of Jack Holmes.
The Cleethorpes captain will be looking for a general improvement in his team’s form, after two below par performances, has seen them lose ground on the leading pack.
