Bathstore goes into administration

Bathstore, the UK’s largest specialist bathroom retailer has gone into administration, putting around 530 jobs at risk.  This is after the company failed to find a buyer.

Staff at the Grimsby and Scunthorpe stores are among those facing uncertainty, along with colleagues in the other 133 stores, plus those at the company’s head office in Welwyn Garden City.

Founded in 1990, the company has struggled in recent years, along with many high street retailers.  Administrators from business services firm BDO said the company would continue to trade as normal for now, as they hoped to sell the company as a going concern.  The administrators have also said that Bathstore should be able to fulfil the majority of outstanding customer orders, although all installation services have ceased.

If you have orders placed with Bathstore, or have any other queries, there is information and a set of FAQs on their website https://www.bathstore.com

Mary Vickers moved to North East Lincolnshire in 2010, from the Wiltshire/Hampshire border, to become Urban and Industrial Chaplain NELincs. Made redundant in 2017, she's maintained many of her connections within the business, faith, and other local communities. She's also decided to stay here rather than return to either the south or her husband's native Yorkshire, so that she can continue to enjoy and help promote the positives of NELincs.
