Drinkers in pubs will have to be kept indoors and drink out of plastic glasses for Armed Forces weekend.
Landlords in Cleethorpes have been advised by North East Lincolnshire Council of the strict rules for selling alcohol during Armed Forces weekend. They will have to keep their customers inside and not to let people with drinks from the bar leave to watch displays, and only serve drinks in plastic glasses. Any breaches could impact on future licences and could lead to reviews for licence holders.
There is a concern from licensees that a company from Doncaster has won a licence to sell alcohol, but Cleethorpes landlords can not let their customers out of their doors. Also, people can just go into the local supermarkets and buy alcohol and sit on the beach and drink as much as they like.
Each venue has been given free polycarbonate cups, which landlords agree with, but some think that to stop people going outside is a disgrace. North East Lincolnshire licensing manager believes that it will prevent alcohol from being all over Cleethorpes. Because when people walk away from bars they get a lot more rubbish which has to be collected. The council will work with Landlords to achieve this to make Armed Forces weekend as safe and enjoyable as possible.
