Doctor charged with assault.
A respected doctor has been charged with administering noxious substance after woman was taken to hospital in what police described as an unresponsive and serious condition.
Humberside Police confirmed that Hossam Metwally, 58, s due to appear in court this morning charged with assault causing GBH and administering a noxious substance.
Metwally, 58, is an anaesthetist and chronic pain specialist with the Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Grimsby’s Diana Princess of Wales Hospital and Scunthorpe General Hospital.
Dr. Metwally is a Staff Anaesthetist and Chronic Pain Specialist in North East Lincolnshire and Goole Hospitals NHS Trust and a director of Lincs Pain Clinic on Laceby Road.
A number of officers attended a property on Laceby Road in Grimsby on Saturday after the woman was taken to hospital on Friday.
Police were alerted by hospital staff, who were concerned for the safety of the woman. She was described as being in a critical but stable condition in hospital.
