800,000 Whirlpool tumble driers recalled.
Whirlpool has now said that it has logged 54 fires in its tumble driers. Three were in models that had been updated. They could have to recall 800,000 driers.
The Office for Product safety announced that in the recall customers who have an unmodified tumble drier will be entitled to a new replacement machine. This will be delivered and installed and the old one will be taken away at no cost.
The recall is nearly four years after the issues were raised. Consumers who have an unmodified machine should contact Whirlpool to arrange a free replacement.
