Autism Friendly Sports Sessions

THIS summer, Grimsby Leisure Centre will be hosting autism friendly sports sessions for people of all ages.

The sessions will be adapted with dimmer lighting, quieter settings with no background music or radio and the use of a quiet area away from activities.

Amongst the activities included will be table tennis, badminton, kurling, netball and soft bowls.

Lucy Guilliatt, Health and Wellbeing Coach, Lincs Inspire said: “We are looking forward to hosting these sessions that will offer something new and different, bridging a gap in services for people with autism. The adapted environment will help to allow those taking part to get the most out of the activities, enjoying exercise and making new friends”.

The sessions will take place in the Sports Hall of Grimsby Leisure Centre’s original building on August 7 and August 28, 9:30am to 12 noon, costing £4 per person with free entry for parents or carers.
