Border Collie revealed as Britain’s worst behaved dog.

Border Collie dogs have been found in the research into pet insurance claims by John Lewis to be the worst behaved dog in Britain. They are also the most likely to need therapy.

The research also found psychological issues with labradors, golden retrievers, cocker spaniels, cockapoos and border terriers.

The border collie being the worst behaved dog is at odds with the idea we have of them being a highly intelligent working dog. The breed was developed for herding livestock. On the basis that it was intelligent and obedient.

But the research suggests that collies are likely to become unruly and frustrated when they are kept in urban homes. Without the mental and physical challenges, they were bred for.
