Important changes to bin collections during hot weather

North East Lincolnshire Council’s bin crews will be starting work earlier for the rest of this week because of the hot weather.

Households will need to have their bins and boxes out by 6am instead of the usual 7am on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week, (24 to 26 July).

Temperatures are forecast to reach 30 degrees Celsius on Wednesday and to remain in the high 20s on Thursday and Friday.

A bin crew worker will typically walk 10 miles a day collecting and hauling about 10 tonnes of waste and recycling.

Starting an hour earlier means they avoid the afternoon high temperatures.

Collections will return to the usual time next week.

Please let friends, family and neighbours know about the changes.

North East Lincolnshire Council apologises in advance for any inconvenience caused.
