Junior basketball camp aims to get kids moving

The JLC Scunthorpe Wolves are holding a two day basketball camp for beginners and newcomers to the game on 12th and 13th August at John Leggott College.

The two days will be full of fun, games, skills, drills and team building activities to inspire children to get active, healthy and be more sociable.

Campers who pre-book can take advantage of pre-ordering a healthy meal from club sponsors Snack Attack Cafe. The Wolves operate basketball in Scunthorpe for all ages, from primary school up to adults and have recently delivered sessions in many local secondary schools. The club are looking to welcome new players and the coaching staff are keen to stress that no previous experience is necessary.

The two day camp which runs from 10am until 3pm costs only £25 and includes lunch, anyone interested should email basketball@leggott.ac.uk for further details or search on social media for John Leggott College Basketball Academy. In addition to the two day beginners camp, the club will also run a three day camp for experienced players that compete at National League level and will welcome players from clubs from across the region.

The Wolves have been relatively successful in their short time since being established in 2017, winning the U16 Northern Conference in the 2017/18 season and also the AoC Yorkshire and Humber college league in the same season. The club operates with a culture that promotes player focused leadership and accountability, encouraging young people to get out of their comfort zones, commit to working hard for the team and to serve others selflessly.

The club is a non-profit organisation that has supported the Scunthorpe Food Bank with donations from players and their families and will soon be holding a “24 hour basketball game” charity fundraising event.
