Following the huge success of Cleethorpes Rum, message in a bottle has now launched its very own Cleethorpes Hopped Gin to add a beery option to its collection of local Lincolnshire spirits.
The bottles made by Louth- based Bottomley Distillers, will be on sale exclusively at message in a bottle from Saturday 10th August 2019 and owner Charles Lumley has already taken several pre-orders!
We’ve been a bit taken aback by the demand to be honest. We started working with our friends at Bottomley Distillers about a month ago and released some sneak previews on our social media. Since then, we’ve had lots of people coming in asking for it and placing pre-orders”.
The popular independent bottle shop and weekend bar was the first outlet in the area to stock Pin Gin from Bottomley Distillers and the working relationship has gone from strength to strength. The new creation is a classic London Dry infused with Citra hop oil chosen by message in a bottle.
Citra hops are massively popular in the brewing world. As the name suggests, they give an intense citrusy flavour to beer and they are the perfect addition to this gin. We wanted to create something unique that fused our love of gin and beer. We are delighted with the finished product and can’t wait to sell it in our shop and serve it on our weekend bar. Like the Cleethorpes Rum, the fact it’s a locally made product is a real positive. We always use local suppliers unless it’s absolutely not possible. Even the label has been designed by local freelance designer, Imanina Hamzah, who has also been working in the shop over the summer”.
We’ve done Cleethorpes Pale Ale with Axholme Brewing Company, Cleethorpes Rum with Tip-Tap-Top and now this. We are very proud to support local businesses and these products help put our area on the map”.
The distiller, Alan Bottomley, is also excited about the launch and was the first person to taste the new collaboration.
We’ve worked with message in a bottle for a long time and we are both really passionate about gin, beer and promoting Lincolnshire. We worked long and hard to get this gin right and I’m really happy with the finished product. The bottles look fantastic and the balance of flavours is just right”.
