Youth football coach accused of child sex offences.
Geoffrey Broome 60 was a football coach working with young footballers in the town from the 1970’s he was a coach for CGB Humbertherm club as a coach for two decades until early last year.
He was also a former youth development coach at Scunthorpe United. It is believed he had historic informal links with Grimsby Town until the late 1980’s. In 2016 Humberside police are believed to have launched an investigation into non-recent sexual offences.
Geoffrey Broome who lives in Grimsby has been charged with a series of alleged sex offences against boys. He appeared before Grimsby Magistrates Court and was accused of indecently assaulting three boys aged under 16. The offences are said to have happened in Grimsby between January 1st 1992 and December 31st 1995.He has been charged with four offences of indecently assaulting a boy under 16, and three offences of indecently assaulting another boy under 16 and indecently assaulting a third boy under 16.
He was released on bail until next month when he will appear at Grimsby Crown Court.
