Pensioner jailed for raping a girl and sexual abuse of another.
Barry Wrightson was jailed for 14 years at Grimsby Crown Court for twice raping one girl and sexually abusing another. He raped a vulnerable girl twice and threatened to kill her if she told anyone what had happened the fact that she didn’t tell anybody had a significant effect on her health.
Both of the girls suffered serious health and stress problems. He was convicted of two offences of rape and six others including sexual assault, sexual activity and causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity. A number of the offences happened in the Grimsby area.
He denied all the matters.
But the judge and the jury believed he was the one who was lying. It is believed that the victims were particularly vulnerable and there were aggravating features in the offences. He is elderly and was previously of good character. He will also have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
