By A Bank Holiday “do not travel” warning has been issued for the East Coast Main Line.
This will affect some journeys from Cleethorpes and Grimsby stations if you’re changing at Doncaster or travelling from Grimsby via Lincoln and Newark.
If you’re planning to travel on the main line via King’s Cross station this weekend, do check now whether your train is running.
Train operator London North Eastern Railway (LNER) has issued a “do not travel” warning for Saturday and Sunday on the route between London and Scotland. There will also be some disruption on Bank Holiday Monday.
This is because King’s Cross will be closed due to Network Rail engineering work. There will be no trains between London and Peterborough on Saturday and Sunday, and only a much reduced service on Monday.
In addition, trains between Doncaster and Peterborough will be diverted due to engineering work at Newark and will take longer than usual.
Network Rail acknowledge that many people want to make the most of a holiday weekend. But the railways are 50% quieter than usual over Bank Holidays, which is why a considerable amount of improvement and engineering work is undertaken then. The closure of King’s Cross is due to Network Rail continuing a multi-million pound programme renewing track, signalling and overhead line equipment on the approach to the station.
