Thief jailed after a violent struggle with Police Officers.

Lee Chambers 39 of Duke Street, Grimsby had only just been released from prison the day before when he started a thieving spree. Police were called to Costcutters in Hainton Ave following a theft. He admitted assaulting two female police officers during the violent incident on Tuesday.

He was tasered and Parva sprayed during the violent struggle. He admitted stealing food and toiletries from Costcutters that day and damaging 14 crates of beer. He also admitted three other theft offences all from Asda.

He had previously been jailed for four weeks for two theft offences but was released that day. He had no money and no accommodation and went thieving to get cash until his benefit situation got sorted.

It was a very difficult and unpleasant arrest and he had also pushed an officer into a crate of beer. Chambers was jailed for 12 weeks and ordered to pay £75 compensation to one officer and £25 to another.  It is believed he received notification of a successful claim for Universal Credit following his arrest.
