Body found in woods near Bawtry

Police have made an appeal for information following the discovery of a body in Kings Wood near Bawtry.

South Yorkshire Police issued the appeal this morning, after they were called to Kings Wood at around 11:30pm on Wednesday 4th September, following reports that a man’s body had been found.

The death of a 70-year-old man is currently being treated as unexplained.  Enquiries to ascertain the exact circumstances of his death are continuing.  Meanwhile, the woodland has been sealed off and is under police guard.

Officers have made an appeal for anyone who saw a white coloured Citroen Berlingo van entering the wood that afternoon, or was in the area between 3.30pm and midnight, to contact them.

Please call 101 quoting incident number 892 of 04 September.

Specialist officers are supporting the man’s family.
