Roadworks to begin next week on one of Cleethorpes busiest roads as third phase of regeneration project starts.

As part of North East, Lincolnshire Council’s public realm improvements project the roundabout at the junction of Alexandra Road and Sea Road will be upgraded. Phase three of the regeneration project will see the central traffic island on Sea Road and Alexandra Road landscaped and a signal-controlled pedestrian crossing will replace the raised one on Alexandra Road. The new crossing will be down the road 40 meters by the pier gardens. The Zebra crossing on the other side will remain where it is.

It is hoped that disruption will be kept to a minimum it will not start till after this weekend’s Festival of the Sky. The work will be suspended during the October school half-term. The work will start on Monday 9th September and is scheduled to take approximately three months. The junction will operate as normal during most of the time. With some lane closures and localised traffic management. Buses will operate as usual.

In October there will be a one-way system in place using Market Street as a diversion. It is expected that the only road closures will be overnight access to Sea Road because of resurfacing and towards the end of the development Market Street.

In the middle of September, the start of developments to an 80metre stretch of Alexandra Road at the top of Sea View Street will start with new granite kerbs and Yorkstone paving being laid this is also expected to last around three months. traffic lights will be in place for this development and motorists can expect delays. All the businesses in Sea view Street will be open as usual and the car park in Wardall Street will be accessible from Cambridge Street.

This work is part of the £7.2 million Cleethorpes Regeneration  Project and is funded by the Coastal Communities Fund.
