A180 closed westbound for 6 hours yesterday

A serious road traffic collision closed the westbound A180 just after the Great Coates interchange.

Emergency services were quickly in attendance after a lorry overturned and left the road.  The road was closed westbound around 4:30pm, between the A1136 and the A1173.

Motorists were advised to avoid the area where possible, especially as traffic on the eastbound side slowed as well.  At such a busy time of day, traffic soon backed up, causing delays across Grimsby.

Recovery of the vehicle began around 8:30pm. The road and road furniture were also made safe.  The A180 finally reopened at about 10:30pm.

Mary Vickers moved to North East Lincolnshire in 2010, from the Wiltshire/Hampshire border, to become Urban and Industrial Chaplain NELincs. Made redundant in 2017, she's maintained many of her connections within the business, faith, and other local communities. She's also decided to stay here rather than return to either the south or her husband's native Yorkshire, so that she can continue to enjoy and help promote the positives of NELincs.
