Road Policing Team stops 36 cars this week and finds a number of drugs and cash.

Dozens of cars were stopped and eight people were arrested last week by Humberside Roads Policing team as part of their continued commitment to keeping our region’s roads safe. One of the main ways that they do this, is by denying the use of our roads to criminals involved in organised crime and county lines drug dealing.

Head of our Special Operations Unit, Chief Superintendent Christine Wilson said: “People use the roads for a whole range of different reasons, and we are here to make sure that those that are using them correctly are not put in danger by those intent on committing offences.

“We know that county lines gangs use the motorways and other key roads to travel across the country and that is why we work closely with other forces to identify and stop vehicles that have been used for criminal activity in other areas, preventing them from coming into our patch to commit offences.

“This week has been a busy one for our roads team, who have stopped and searched a total of 36 cars, recovering a number of drugs and cash.

“They also arrested eight people, throughout the course of the week, on suspicion of offences including burglary, theft of a motor vehicle, possession of drugs with intent to supply and money laundering.

“Tackling criminals that blight our communities by selling drugs, exploiting children and committing offences that harm other people, will always be a priority in Roads Policing and we work closely with other policing teams across the force to bring offenders to justice.”

The team often act on intelligence received from members of the public.

Chief Superintendent Wilson continued: “I would urge anyone with any information about a crime to please get in touch. Your information, no matter how small it may seem, helps us piece together a better understanding of what is happening, enabling us to take action where appropriate.”
