Drone used to keep Grimsby safe

Last weekend saw the jointly owned drone used in operational policing for the first time.

The drone helped officers working as part of #OpYellowfin on Bradley Pitches in Grimsby over the weekend following a number of reports of people riding motorbikes anti socially in the vicinity.

We continue to work hard to act against anti-social behaviour and conduct frequent #OpYellowfin patrols. Anyone who sees motorbikes being ridden in an antisocial way should call us on 101 to report the incident.

Once the officers had used the drone at Bradley Pitches it was called over to Immingham to the search for a missing person.
PC Andy Potter, Community Beat Manager for Grimsby West said, “The drone is a great piece of kit to gather evidence of dangerous riding and to protect the public.

“This is the first time we have had this new joint resource available to us and I can really see how valuable it will be in tackling crime and keeping people safe.”

We contacted Raven Drones in Grimsby who added “This is fantastic news for our region. The future of drone technology is bright and far-reaching in all sectors including the emergency services. We are excited to see this project develop”.
