By A 27-year-old man was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison on Wednesday 2 October, after he burgled two addresses in the Beverley Road area of Hull in March this year.
Lewis Guymer of Hedon Road Hull was given the sentence after he was found guilty of two counts of burglary, three counts of fraud and one count of theft.
The court heard that on Sunday 3 March Guymer entered an accommodation block on Beverley Road put gloves on and walked around the building before stealing a smart speaker and a watch.
Later that month, on Thursday 21 March, he forced entry to a house on Ash Grove through a downstairs window and stole a number of items including a handbag, bank cards, clothing, a laptop, a games console, a watch and a jewellery box containing various items of jewellery.
Guymer then fraudulently used the stolen bank cards to make a purchase at a shop on Marfleet Lane later that day.
He was sentenced at Hull Crown Court.
Detective Sergeant Andy Bradley said: “Nobody should have to fear that their items are unsafe in their own homes and we take all reports of burglary incredibly seriously.
“Guymer showed no care for the people that he was stealing from and even brazenly used bank cards that he had stolen to make purchases for his own gain.
“I welcome the sentence given by the judge today and I hope it gives Guymer time to reflect on his actions and the impact that it has had on the victims.”
