Knife Crime in the Humberside region is the highest since records began.

In the Humberside region, knife crime has risen by 15 percent in the last year. Included in the figures are one murder and six attempted murders with a knife. There were 591 knife crimes in the year to June 2018 in the Humberside region.

Knife crime offences include murder and attempted murder, threats to kill, robbery, assault, sexual assault and rape in which a sharp instrument or knife is involved. The figures are believed to be the highest since comparable records began in 2010/11. Crime that was recorded by Humberside Police is believed to be up by 13 percent compared to June 2018. For those caught with knives but who may not have committed a violent crime with them, possession of weapon offences rose by 16 percent to 553.

Overall levels of violence have remained steady.  But the number of offences that have involved a knife has increased across England and Wales.
