Could you shelter your paper recycling box from the rain?

Paper and card that is too wet may not be able to be recycled. North East Lincolnshire Council is urging residents to keep their paper and card recycling boxes out of the rain.

Because of recent spells of heavy rain have left paper and cards sodden. They are advising people to stack them in a way that keeps the blue box dry and stops plastic bottles from flying away that are in the orange box.

The Council acknowledges that the recycling boxes are not great. But we have to keep using them until the central government let the council know about how they want councils to collect household waste and recycling in the future.

Only last week it was announced that in North East Lincolnshire any changes to recycling are not likely to be introduced until spring 2021.
