Glass fragments found in Cleethorpes Swimming Pool – another week of closure

Council and Lincs Inspire have apologised to pool users at Cleethorpes Leisure Centre for its extended closure following replacement window work
North East Lincolnshire.

The Council has commissioned an extensive range of energy improvement works at the Centre, resulting in the swimming pool being closed this week to allow works to take place, including the replacement of the glazing around the pool hall.

Unfortunately, some glass fragments were found in and around the pool area as a result of these ongoing works. This will result in an extension to the period of closure.

A Council spokesman said: “Following good practice and in order to ensure users are safe, this means that the pool will remain closed until work is done to remove all the fragments. We’re really sorry users won’t be able to enjoy the pool for this period of time and hope it won’t be for long, but we need to make sure everything’s safe for the public following the incident.’’ added the spokesman.

Lincs Inspire has confirmed that customers can use both Grimsby Leisure Centre and Immingham Swimming Pool during this period.
