Fashion Show Fundraiser for Rainforest Ward

Fashion show fundraiser

Staff will be ditching their hospital uniforms and taking to the catwalk when they strut their stuff to raise money for Grimsby hospital.

The team, who work on the Rainforest children’s ward, are staging a glam fashion show this month to raise money for the hospital’s official charity, The Health Tree Foundation (HTF).

The charity has launched a new appeal to buy 18 parent beds for the ward to make it more comfortable for those people wishing to stay over to be with their poorly child.

The ward made a ‘wish’ for the new beds which will cost £20,000 to buy. So far the appeal has raised £11,000.

All the proceeds from the event, which is being held on Tuesday November 26 at 7pm at the Linden Club in Cleethorpes, will go towards the HTF Rainforest bed appeal.

Charlotte Jenner, advanced healthccare assistant, on the ward said: “We are all really looking forward to walking down the catwalk and modelling a great clothing range. There will be outfits from M&S, White Stuff and many more big brands.

“We have also arrange for a raffle on the night with some great prizes up for grabs including Grimsby Town football tickets and a photoshoot. We are pulling out all of the stops to raise as much money as we can.”

Rainforest ward manager, Peter Louth, said: “It can be a frightening and anxious time for parents when their child is admitted to hospital. Naturally there are times when they want to be by their side and stay with them overnight.

“With the help of our charity and local fundraisiers we hope to buy 18 parent beds so we can offer somewhere comfortable for people to sleep when their child comes in the hospital. They will make a huge difference to our families.”

Katie Hubbert, HTF community champion, said: “We have been overwhelmed by the donations we have received so far to help this dream come true but we need people to keep supporting the appeal if we are to hit our target.”

Tickets are priced £5 each and can be purchased in advance by contacting charity community champion, Katie Hubbert on 07841024814.
