Rape Appeal: Doncaster

Rape Appeal: Doncaster by South Yorkshire Police.

Detectives investigating a reported rape in Doncaster town centre have released CCTV footage and are asking for your help to identify the people pictured.

On the morning of Sunday 17 November, police received a call from a 39-year-old woman who reported being raped on Pells Close, just off Printing Office Street, sometime between 6.45-7am.

Detective Inspector Lee Townley, leading the inquiry, said: “We know that the woman, who continues to be supported by officers, had left Kooky’s nightclub on Silver Street, earlier that morning.

“There were a lot of people about, some of who are pictured in the CCTV, who we know were nearby and may have spoken to her prior to the offence occurring.

“We are particularly keen to identify and speak to the man seen in the moving footage and in some of the stills. He is described as black, about 5ft 4ins tall, and of a slight build. He could hold vital information about what happened.

“Do you recognise him? If you are the man or know who he is, please contact us. We’re also keen to speak to people who were out that night and who were on Silver Street, Printing Office Street and near to Pells Close in the early hours of Sunday morning.

“Since Sunday morning, officers in CID have maximised forensic opportunities, conducted an extensive CCTV trawl of the area and worked with the victim to obtain as much information as possible.

“I know and appreciate that an incident of this nature will be of concern to the local community but I’d like to reassure you that we have dedicated officers assigned to this case who are working incredibly hard to identify the man involved.

“As our enquiries continue, it is vital that we trace the people in the footage. We believe they could hold key information about the offender.

“If you do recognise any of the people in the footage, or you are in the footage, please speak to us, you can come to College Road station or phone us on one 101. You can also speak to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

“Please quote incident number 284 of 17 November 2019 when passing on information.”
