Two charged in connection to bringing illicit items into prison

Two men have been charged with offences in connection to bringing and having illicit items in prison.

On Tuesday 26 November, a 25-year-old man was subject to a staff stop and search at HMP Doncaster, which led to a number of prohibited items being recovered, including phones, tobacco and suspected Class A and B drugs. The items are estimated to be worth between £34-50,000.

Thomas Walls, of Zetland Road, Intake, has since been charged with the following offences; conspiracy to convey List A articles, conspiracy to convey List B articles, convey a List C article, convey a List B article and convey a List A article. He is also charged with possession with intent to supply a Class A drug and a further count for a Class B drug.

Walls has been remanded to appear before Doncaster Magistrates’ Court today (Thursday 28 November).

A second man, Timothy Avril, of HMP Doncaster, has also been charged in connection. He is charged with conspiracy to convey List A articles, conspiracy to convey List B articles, possession of a Class B drug (cannabis) and possession of a phone in prison.

Avril, 27, will appear before Doncaster Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Friday 29 November).

A 23-year-old woman who was also arrested has since been released under investigation as enquiries continue.
