Is today the day?

Will today be the day you will be putting your Christmas tree up? It’s December the 1st today and the day when many people put their Christmas tree up will you be one of them?

It used to be the tradition for the Romans to wait until Christmas Eve to put up their Christmas trees. but nowadays that seems too late. now it is thought ok to display your Christmas tree and decorations as of December 1st. Nowadays that seems too late. One school of thought says that your tree should go up at the start of Advent which is the religious name in western Christianity, for the period leading up to Christmas.

It covers four Sundays before Christmas and begins on the Sunday closest to November 30th the feast day of St Andrew.
