Labour’s Jonathan Ashworth has insisted his apparent criticism of Jeremy Corbyn in a leaked secret recording by his Tory activist friend was “banter”.
The recording was made when Mr Ashworth was speaking to a friend former local Conservative Association chairman, Greig Baker, and he has not denied that he made the remarks.
He is heard saying Labour voters in the north and Midlands ‘can’t stand’ Jeremy Corbyn and it could cost the party the election.
This is truly damaging to Jeremy Corbyns image so close to Election Day when it seemed that the Labour Party may be pulling back in the polls. This shows the deep seated resentment still towards Corbyn from with his own Party.
