Grimsby physiotherapist Struck Off.
Louis Houtsnee a Scartho physiotherapist has been struck off after it was alleged that he took advantage of two female patients in order to satisfy his sexual wishes. The Health and Care Professionals Council banned Louis Houtsnee the Director Of Physiofirst Centre Grimsby from practicing.
They found that he breached trust and professional boundaries with a recurring pattern of sexual misconduct towards female patients. The incidents happened four years apart involving patient B and the other in 2013 with patient A. It is alleged that he removed women’s underwear when they only wanted treatment for back pain.
Louis Houtsnee appeared at Hull Court in 2017 in relation to the allegations and was acquitted. But the HCPC carried out their own investigation which incorporated police statements and transcripts of the court hearing. Patient A attended the clinic for lower back pain and during the treatment, he is alleged to have asked her to lower her trousers and underwear. Throughout the treatment, it is believed that he gradually lowered her underwear exposing her genital area. Houtsnee said that this was clinically justified and that any touching of her genitals was accidental. The patient also alleged inappropriate behavior in two more sessions.
The panel found that all of patient A’s allegations were proven true and that the actions of Houstnee were not clinically justified. He was also found to have retrospectively altered the records of patient A.
Patient B
Five years before this patient B attended an appointment for chronic back pain. It is alleged that he lifted the woman’s trousers and underwear so that her pubic region was exposed. He told the woman to remove her knickers and went told the receptionist to go home. It is believed that he then removed her knickers the woman froze as she thought it was inappropriate. When he asked her if she trusted him she said no I don’t think I do, He then gave her knickers back to her.
The incident has left the woman feeling violated, embarrassed and freaked out. She has been put off attending any other physio appointment elsewhere for her pain.
HPC panel accepted that these allegations had been proven true, and they were sexually motivated and were meant to gratify his sexual wishes. The physiotherapist did not attend the hearing and citing medical reasons had it postponed numerous times.
He is also believed to have wrote a letter to the panel saying Ever wondered why a jury of 12 consisting of seven women and five men unanimously reached the opposite decision as yourselves a panel of three. He claims that it has been a complete miscarriage of justice.
