Mariners Trust treasurer seriously injured.

Ian Townsend the well-known treasurer of the Mariner’s Trust was seriously injured after the Town match on Saturday. He was hit by a car after Saturday’s game against Forest Green.

Ian and his friend were both hit by a car that had turned off Grimsby Road into Lestrange Street. It is believed the incident has been described as a very unfortunate accident by a witness, who thought it looked like the driver just turned in as the men were crossing the road.

The accident occurred around 5 pm Saturday and it is thought that Ian was treated in the street for about an hour before he was taken to hospital. It is believed that his friend was not to badly injured but Ian suffered a broken shoulder and a head wound and may be out of action for some time. We wish him a speedy recovery.
