 Dock worker found with cash and drugs claims Russians behind plot.

A dock worker was arrested as he left Immingham docks Ben Whitby a land tug operator was stopped on Tuesday by police as he was leaving Immingham docks.  He was found to have 2.5kg of cocaine with an estimated street value of £150,000. It was thought that £3,000 was also found in his glove compartment.

During a search of his home in Bygott Walk New Waltham, a bag was found with £20,000 cash. But it is believed that in court Whitby claimed he was the victim of modern-day slavery and was under pressure from Russian gangs. And that he was under duress because of links with Russians.

He appeared in custody on Thursday and denies possessing cocaine with intent to supply and acquiring or possessing cash as criminal property at Immingham on February 18th.

The case has been sent to Grimsby Crown Court and Ben Whitby was allowed bail with conditions including surrendering to the police and handing over his passport.
