Nightclubbers sprayed with mystery chemical.

Nightclubbers were sprayed with a chemical during a fight at the BarRacuda bar on Grant Street in the early hours of Monday morning.

It is believed that five people were contaminated with the spray. It is understood that the spray filled the bar.Forensic examination of the spray is being carried out to establish what the spray was. It is not thought to have been acid or bleach.

Police attended the hospital and it is believed that two men were later arrested. On suspicion of grievous bodily harm and possession of a firearm under section 51 of the Firearms act. Which applies to any weapon which is designed or adapted for the discharge of any noxious liquid gas or other thing.

It is thought that there has been no lasting injuries to anyone who was sprayed with the substance. Although the spray has not yet been identified it has been determined as a PH neutral liquid. Which means it did not have any acid and does not cause lasting injury.

Humberside Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information should call them on 101 quoting log number 33 of February 24th.
