By Coronavirus panic: have you started stocking up yet?
Major UK supermarkets have begun rationing products as shoppers have start to stockpile certain products over Coronavirus fears.
This comes days after Health Secretary Matt Hancock assured the British public that he is “confident” that food supplies in the UK will not run out.
Tesco has placed a restriction of five items per person on some everyday items including antibacterial products, dried pasta, long life milk, medicines, water and tinned vegetables. This applies both online and in stores.
Asda and Morrisons have also imposed limits. At present, Sainsbury’s does not appear to be limiting purchases.
Asda is restricting bottles of hand sanitiser to two bottles per person. Other retailers including Superdrug and Boots have run out of anti-bacterial hand gel completely.
Some branches of Tesco have also completely run out of certain products including several lines of dried pasta.
Morrisons are limiting purchases of soap, hand wash, children’s medicines.
Ocado have also put limits on products. Shoppers are now restricted to two packs of toilet roll, two bottles of antibacterial gel and three bottles of Calpol each.
There have been numerous reports of shelves emptying as a result of the outbreak, which is spreading rapidly around the world.
