A woman in her 80s has died at a Lincolnshire hospital while being treated for Covid-19.

The United Lincolnshire Health NHS Trust have reported that the patient died on Thursday, but say that they will not be revealing whether she was being cared for at Lincoln County Hospital, Boston Pilgrim Hospital or Grantham and District Hospital.

A spokesperson for the trust said:

“Sadly we can confirm that a woman who was being cared for at one of our hospitals, and had tested positive for Covid-19, has died.

The patient, who passed away yesterday, was in her eighties and had underlying health conditions.

Her family has been informed and our thoughts and condolences are with them at this difficult and distressing time.”

Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Health Secretary Matt Hancock have both been diagnosed with coronavirus. Chief Medical Officer Chris Whitty is also in self-isolation, after he experienced flu-like symptoms.

14,543 people have now been confirmed to have the virus, and a further 168 people have died from it in the last day or so, according to NHS England and Public Health England.

They were aged between 29 and 98 years old. All but four had underlying health issues.
