Public asked to donate items to Doncaster NHS staff

What has gone wrong with the UK's supply of PPE?

Public asked to donate items to Doncaster NHS staff

The public are being asked to donate items for care packages to NHS staff at Doncaster and Bassetlaw hospitals, as increasing numbers of them are spending time in hospital accommodation.

Hospital trust bosses are asking local residents to purchase care package items such as soap, deodorant, tea, coffee and biscuits via an Amazon Wishlist, as a show of appreciation for NHS staff during the Covid-19 outbreak.

This comes after the trust said had been ‘inundated with calls’ from residents asking how they could support NHS staff.

Costa recently donated 600 cans of coffee to NHS staff in order to help them get through shifts.

Schools across Doncaster have also donated personal protective equiptment, or PPE, from their science departments, as most schools are now closed and the facilities are no longer in use.

A spokesman for Doncaster & Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals, said:

“During Covid-19, Doncaster & Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals would like to provide our colleagues who may have to stay unexpectedly in hospital accommodation with a ‘Care Package’ which will consist of essential toiletry items and snacks.

This list is not exhaustive, but we have listed the items we think would be most beneficial for colleagues. We have two hospital sites items can be delivered to which include Doncaster Royal Infirmary and Bassetlaw Hospital in Worksop.”
